Bring Your Stuffed Animal To Class Day

Somewhere on the syllabus, you'll find "stuffed animal day." On the date indicated, simply bring a stuffed animal to class for our class photo. That's all you have to do. Worth: 1% added to your final grade.

Volunteer Student Essays

For each essay, you'll have the opportunity to have your essay workshopped during class period--students will read your essay and critique the choices you made, giving suggestions. In order to be considered for a volunteer student workshop, email your essay to me the day before any class that includes a "volunteer student essay workshop." I will then randomly select one essay. If you are chosen, you will receive 1% added to your final grade.

New Comm Ave Publication

The journal of college writing, New Comm Ave, publishes student essays twice a year--in just about any genre. Submit one of your essays from class for publication consideration before the deadline (instructions at newcommave.com/submissions), and you'll get 1% extra credit added to your final grade.
